establishment that you once led, and 2. Your choice of the words “Socialism of the right,” while dead accurate, turned Republicans off. A bad thing? Maybe. But your retraction is inexcusable.
The Ryan plan IS a bad idea. You should have expounded on it thus:
Seniors don’t like the Ryan Plan. . . . . .
. . . . . . America is broke. We must make choices; hard choices. Medicare and Social Security are entitlements. Seniors and even those under 55, paid into Social Security and Medicare programs fully expecting a return on their investments. Nor do they wish to, or be expected to work into their 70’s. Medicaid and welfare are not entitlements - even though the political elite and the media have been lumping them together for some time. Seniors shouldn’t have to sacrifice for those who have made their choice not to work [make that commitment now - Mr. Gingrich. Take a stand. Tell the American People, not in Phdese, but in language we all understand - we can‘t afford all these entitlements; we cannot afford Obamacare, and hard working seniors should not have to pay the price].
The Republican party needs to get in touch with real Americans, and you should stop trying to be the smartest man in the room. There are other ways of looking at things and, more importantly, better ways of arguing your position. I just gave you one; and I would strongly suggest that you hire me as a consultant in your campaign - YESTERDAY.
Let’s talk. In exchange for your valuable time, to show good faith, I’ll give you (as a freebie) an alternative to that ($30 Billion?) medical records’ bill for which you testified before Congress in 2006, that would bring the same results for $8.99, before some Democrat embarrasses you with the same conclusion.
You are the best candidate out there (’ere I would be writing to someone else). But if you are to get elected, you need me. Contrary to what you’ve heard, I’m the smartest in the room.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
John W. Sawyer III
